Weekly photo challenge: Growth

There is something fascinating about the way some things can grow from a tiny invisible spore to be large and very noticeable within of a few hours or overnight! I am referring to toadstools, mushrooms and other types of fungi. And, as if that wasn’t enough, in another day or two, they have disappeared again! Some even glow in the dark during their brief life!

These characteristics probably explain why they feature so prominently in fairy stories and other magical tales.

The ‘classic’ toadstool – but in yellow!

This beautiful example of a toadstool was just too exquisite not to photograph. I love the softness of the gills and the perfection of the whole underside of the cap. (Sadly, it was not one of those that glows in the dark – I have yet to come across one of those!)

The gills underneath the cap are perfectly formed. So soft and delicate.

This is my contribution to the weekly photo challenge: Growth. Many other wonderful entries can also be found on the latter site.

I’m jealous! I saw some amazing mushrooms the other day and told my self to go back later and take a picture. By the time I had returned, someone had mowed the lawn, along with mowing the mushrooms!!!! Blah!!!!
    Fabulous photo 🙂

Oh no! How frustrating! And the person on the mower probably did not even see them! Never mind. They may come up again in the same spot if you keep an eye on it (and your camera handy!. Thanks for the comment on my photo!

I agree about mushrooms and the like. If you ever get the chance to look at fungi under the microscope, some of them are quite spectacular! Thanks for your visit and comment!
